To make someone a external person you need to check the *"External Person"* checkbox as highlighted

This will allow you to add a *"External Person"* which changes the popup to look like this:

### People Type

\* means a required field

* \*First Name (Text): Can be any text
* \*Last Name (Text): Can be any text
* \*Email (Text): Formatted as an email address
* \*Position (Text): Can be any text
* External Person (Yes / No): Checkbox

These fields only apply if *"External Person"* is not checked

* Department (Department): Searches for a valid [#department-type](https://oconect.gitbook.io/oconect/setup-guides/departments#department-type "mention")by field *"Department Name"*
* Function Owner (Function): Searches for a valid [#function-type](https://oconect.gitbook.io/oconect/setup-guides/functions#function-type "mention") by field *"Function Name"*
* Department Manager (Department): Searches for a valid [#department-type](https://oconect.gitbook.io/oconect/setup-guides/departments#department-type "mention") by field *"Department Name"*

When created the "First Name" and "Last Name" fields get joined to create a field called "Full Name" which is used in searches
